Hey nerds!

I haven’t made a web in a while. What’s the current tool for making a super simple web slippy tile map with pins dropped into it? Ideally free (for a low traffic website).

In the past I would have used or . would be overkill for this use case.

Thanks! 🗺️🤓

Hi folks! I am a beginner font-end web developer. I want to learn about web development. I hope I can get new friends here, and I can improve my skill so that I can be the best web developer.

If you are a beginner like me. I hope that you can help me. If you are better than me, please do correct me and teach me. I am now learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Eleventy. Help me if you can and I will help you.

JavaScript broke the web (and called it progress), jonoalderson.com/conjecture/ja.

      > Everything’s optimised for developers – and hostile to everyone else.

      > This isn’t accidental. It’s cultural. We’ve created an industry where complexity is celebrated. Where cleverness is rewarded. Where engineering sophistication is valued more than clarity, usability, or commercial effectiveness.

And still. Was told I’m an idiot when I was saying it’s getting too complex. Now this is the result.

Sometimes I forget how much I've learned over the course of my career, until I have to lean on that knowledge in order to complete a task or solve a problem. This goes double for stuff that's esoteric or obtuse.

Solving memory leaks or concurrency issues in legacy software is just so far out of my wheelhouse, the fact that I've had to learn how they're handled in order to fix them has taken so much out of me these last few weeks, and I'm still not certain I've fixed them...

Legacy software man, I'm so much happier working on something from the last decade than something from the last century

We have to abolish . We did so with Flash. It needs to die. It's not a language, it's the reason for decay of software quality, it's the nemesis of every software engineer, the archenemy of serious architects, the epitome of chaos. inv.nadeko.net/watch?v=IRX5Tug

Just started the course "Modern React From The Beginning" from Brad Traversy over at traversymedia.com. It is aimed at beginners and intermediates, so if you think you need a refresher, go and give it a try. He truly speaks to my attention to detail while exclaiming things, which is always a breath of fresh air.
