Sometimes I forget how much I've learned over the course of my career, until I have to lean on that knowledge in order to complete a task or solve a problem. This goes double for stuff that's esoteric or obtuse.
Solving memory leaks or concurrency issues in legacy software is just so far out of my wheelhouse, the fact that I've had to learn how they're handled in order to fix them has taken so much out of me these last few weeks, and I'm still not certain I've fixed them...
Legacy software man, I'm so much happier working on something from the last decade than something from the last century

I’ve rewritten my #11ty blog’s templates in #WebC. I've written up the things I've found that I like—and don't like—about it.
It was great to be able to take an old website and upgrade the software version from 1.x to 3.x without any adjustments. That was a jump of features to ~3+ years ahead, without having to fix anything. Better build performance, better compatibility, faster development experience.
Eleventy https://www.11ty.dev is great.
I'm sure people are happy with regular CMS tools and platforms, but I haven't had to do much of software updates to that old site. It has just been running without issues, as the output is static website without anything that could break down on a server.
Despite the wider world's innumerable horrors, I continue to host, biweekly, the #IndieWeb Front End Study Hall where we talk about #HTML, #CSS, #WebDev past, present, future. Even if you don't join us Thursday, go make a web page. https://events.indieweb.org/2025/07/front-end-study-hall-032-UNvJ1sfd6VGX
